On the first Sunday of June, we will be recognizing our graduates.

Dear Congregation,

June greetings to you! On the first Sunday of June we will be recognizing our graduates. This year we think it’s important to congratulate those young people in our congregation who are being graduated from a wide range of stages in formal education. They are as follows:

  • Lola Diaz, Fifth Grade
  • Kaia Canali, Anthony Diaz, Anasofia Godley Juarez, Lia Smith, Eighth Grade
  • Alana Deo Zoe Smith, Twelfth Grade
  • Kaelen Krumrich , University of Michigan

It has certainly been a challenging school year for students at every level, with so much learning done remotely.  God’s blessings on what you have achieved and on your futures!

June is also LGBTQ+ Pride Month. You may have noticed the message on our outdoor sign “Happy Pride Month from our Open & Affirming Church!!” (Thanks to Daniel Best for putting up the message!) A “feather” rainbow flag has been ordered by Karen Kett and may be in place next to our sign by Sunday. If not, it will be there as soon as it arrives. Thanks, Karen! We hope all those who pass by on S.W. 67th Ave. will not only appreciate our message of support, but will have a clear idea that this congregation is inclusive and welcoming to our GLBTQ+ brothers and sisters.

On this upcoming Family First Sunday, we will reflect in worship on what Jesus had to say about families. We will also be celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion together as a church family. I hope you’ll join us in person or on Facebook.

God Bless You.
