Outreach Efforts

The vision of the Outreach Committee is to motivate our congregation to assist/aide our community where there is need, and to educate our congregation on social issues. One of our major projects is to help fill the needs of the residents of the homeless center in Homestead with clothing and other supplies, serving meals, and an annual Halloween Party for the children. We collect school supplies for organizations such as Kristi House and New Hope School in Haiti.

One of our most enthusiastic projects provides Thanksgiving baskets for local families in need. Various times throughout the year, church members work with the Habitat for Humanity project by donating manual labor, lunch supplies and funds. We hold Justice Luncheons quarterly after Sunday services. The luncheons provide speakers who address the group regarding social service issues and we share a potluck lunch. In the past year we have learned about life in Ghana, concerns of the Center for Immokalee Workers, the Charlee Program, Kristi House, and the Day Laborer’s Center.
