Greetings friends in Christ! I hope all is well with you.

Dear Congregation,

Greetings friends in Christ! I hope all is well with you.

I have been watching some of the General Synod worship and workshop offerings this week. Thank you for supporting my access as a visitor!  The theme of General Synod this year is “Rooted in Love” referring to the words of Psalm 1:3a “They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruits in its season.”  The very cool logo shows a tree whose branches and fruit form hearts, its trunk curving gracefully from roots planted by three swirls of water.

Sara Fitzgerald, a General Synod Newsroom volunteer wrote, “In her keynote address to the 33rd General Synod July 12, social justice activist Valarie Kaur provided the United Church of Christ with a “compass” that she urged every one of its congregations to use to become a “pocket of revolutionary love.” I invite you to read her whole article and have some available, just ask me.

I really like the idea of CCC and all other UCC congregations becoming pockets of revolutionary love! In my mind this love would be lived out in many creative ways impacting our church, our community, and our world.  As we look toward CCC’s future and consider new opportunities for faithful ministry that will be offered by the sale of the property let us ask these two questions of each one, “Is this rooted in the living water of Christ?” “Is its purpose to bear fruits of love?”

May God bless each of you. I look forward to being in worship with you on Sunday.

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
