Transfiguration Sunday

Dear Congregation,

I hope you can be in worship this coming Transfiguration Sunday when, weather permitting, we’ll be in the lovely Garden Chapel and celebrate Mardi Gras afterward in Kelsey Hall. Daniel Best will provide New Orleans-style Jazz music. There will be food and a local version of the King Cake in which will be a tiny plastic baby. The person who finds the baby in his/her/their piece of cake will have the honor of being Keeper of the Alleluia. After all present gather in a circle, the gold and white Alleluia banner, made a couple of years ago by Anasofia Godley-Juarez and Isabella LeGrand, will be put away for Lent as we sing Alleluia. It will reappear at Easter, carried joyfully down the Sanctuary aisle by the Keeper of the Alleluia.

I also hope to see you at the Ash Wednesday Worship Service next week on February 22nd at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Being together in this service is a spiritually meaningful way to begin Lent.

May God bless each of you on your life’s journey.

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
