This Sunday we will celebrate Open and Affirming Sunday in worship.

Dear Congregation,

This Sunday we will celebrate Open and Affirming Sunday in worship. Christ Congregational Church is proud to have been an ONA church since April 6, 2003! As a reminder of what it means to us be Open and Affirming, I share with you CCC’s Open and Affirming Statement adopted in a called Congregational Meeting.

At Christ Congregational Church we strive to love one another as God has loved us and welcome one another as Christ has welcomed us. Therefore, we are an Open and Affirming church, loving and welcoming all people in all of God’s variety; including racial, ethnic, and economic diversity, gender diversity and expression, sexual orientation, and physical and mental abilities.

“Holy Welcome” is the theme of Open and Affirming Sunday, which is so fitting since the words welcome, welcomed, and welcoming are used in CCC’s statement. It’s a good time to reflect on how we have been doing in our welcoming of all people and to think creatively about how we can be even more welcoming in the future.

Our Facebook live-streaming worship has given us a much wider platform for reaching out to welcome all people to join us in our discipleship. Beginning July 1st, we will also have the capability to do Zoom meetings without a short time limit which will add to our opportunities for ministry. Please share any ideas you have for virtually laying out our welcome mat for all people!

May God bless you and keep you close.

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
