New Year’s Greetings!

Dear Congregation,

New Year’s Greetings! There is something fresh and encouraging about starting another year, isn’t there? Many of us make resolutions to improve the way we live our life in some way after honest self-evaluation. If you’ve done that, may God give you strength as you work to faithfully keep those resolutions. It’s not easy to make needed changes, but that’s how we learn and grow throughout life.

Tomorrow is Epiphany, when we remember the wise men who followed the star to find the Messiah, the baby who had been born to be king. You will have the opportunity on Sunday to receive a Star Word as has been our custom the last couple of years. On each of the stars is a word. Trust the word that selects you, but you are free to trade out a word.

The premise is this: the magi followed the star to find baby Jesus, bringing their gifts. We are also seeking Jesus, trusting that God can/does use many signs (or stars) to guide us closer to the Divine Presence. During 2024 you may reflect on how your star word is working in your life. I invite you to hang it where you’ll see it often. The star word I received last year “hospitality” has hung on my refrigerator door all year. It has caused me to reflect on the many aspects of giving and receiving hospitality as a spiritual practice. If you are unable to be present and would like a star word, please let me know and I’ll see that you receive one.

This Sunday we’ll also celebrate The Baptism of Christ. During worship we’ll renew our own baptismal vows and receive a blessing. I hope you’ll be present to take part in this meaningful time as we remember whose we are.

God Bless You in 2024 and always.

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
