Greetings, Friends! I hope all is well with you and yours.

Dear Congregation,

Greetings, Friends! I hope all is well with you and yours. As I write to you this afternoon, I am celebrating the three-year anniversary of the day I began ministry with you as your Interim Pastor (now Designated-Term Pastor). The time has gone by quickly for me as we’ve shared many experiences together—happy, sad, and very challenging– some of which none of us could have possibly anticipated. I want to thank for the privilege of being in ministry with you, for your support, and for your kindness. Thank you also for all you do out of love for God, and for Christ Congregational UCC.

On Sunday, July 11th I will celebrate another anniversary, that of my ordination back on July 11, 1998, twenty-three years ago. At the time I remember that someone said 7/11 was a lucky date. Even though I’m not so sure about luck, I have surely felt blessed by God’s call to ministry. In the five UCC congregations I’ve served, there have always been affirmations of God’s living, loving presence.

I think it’s a good thing to have markers in our lives—birthdays, anniversaries, etc.—both to celebrate them with joy and to take stock of where we are as we travel life’s journey. It’s easy to let one day roll into another without reminding ourselves to keep our eyes and hearts open to the beauty of the everyday and to thank God for our one precious life.

I look forward to seeing what more God has in store for CCC in our time together.

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
