Big news at CCC this week!

Dear Congregation,

Greetings to each of you! The big news at CCC this week is that our Moderator Lorrie LeGrand and fiancé Jose Otalora are being married tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. in our Sanctuary. Church members and friends are invited to be part of the service on CCC’s Facebook Livestream (691 735 4836). You may leave messages of congratulations and well wishes in the “Comments” during the ceremony for the happy couple to read later. (In-person attendance is limited to invited guests due to COVID safety protocols.)

In a nice instance of serendipity, the focus scripture for this Sunday is John 2:1-11, The Wedding at Canna, which is also one of the scripture passages that Jose and Lorrie have chosen for their ceremony. There will be some carryover from the long-ago story of Jesus’ first miracle to this very current wedding, and then into Sunday morning’s service as Lorrie and Jose’s wedding flowers will remain in the Sanctuary for Sunday worship. Graham Bryan will also sing the beautiful song “When Love is Found” accompanied by Jay Harrigan in both services.

So many of you have told me that you feel as if CCC is a church family, which is nice to hear. Just as in a family, we delight in sharing good times, as well as being there to support each other in hard times. And so, I hope you’ll surround Lorrie and Jose with your loving virtual presence.

In one of our recent Bible Study sessions on the Gospel of John, participants agreed that LOVE is at the heart of the Gospel. It comes in many forms and is lived out in many ways. When we have a chance to celebrate love it is a gift and a reminder of one of our most basic assurances as Christians. “God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.” 1 John 4:16

I look forward to being with you in worship both Saturday afternoon and Sunday. I know you join me in wishing Lorrie, Jose, and Isabella all joy and blessings now and in their future as a family.

     In Christ’s love,

     Pastor Candy
