All Saints Sunday

Dear Congregation,

Monday, November 1st was All Saints Day. We’ll celebrate it in worship on All Saints Sunday, November 7th. I hope you’ll be present, in person or on Facebook, as candles are lit, and the names read of those members and friends of CCC who have gone home to God since All Saints Sunday last year. We will also join together in the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

My favorite definition of a saint is that of the little girl who said, after being told that the people in the stained-glass windows of her church were saints, “Then saints are people the light shines through.” I have been privileged to know some people that fit this description, and I hope you have too! I invite you to remember them and thank God for their place in your life.

Other meaningful thoughts about saints are found in this Loyola Press article. “Saints are big dreamers. They believe that with God on their side, no one and nothing can stop them. Saints are go-getters. They don’t wait for someone else to do good first; they jump right in. Saints are love-bringers. They try to see Christ in every person and every situation. Saints tell us what matters most in life is not what we earn or own, not the job we have or the people we know. What really matters is how much we love God, others, and ourselves, and how well we show that love in all we do.”

May God help each of us to be a person that the light of Christ shines through!

See you Sunday!

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
