We celebrate Pentecost as the birthday of the Christian church.

Dear Congregation,

I hope all is well with you! This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday when we’ll reflect on the coming of the Holy Spirit with power almost two thousand years ago.  We celebrate Pentecost as the birthday of the Christian church. Usually there’s even birthday cake in the Fellowship time after worship!

This will be a different kind of Pentecost than we’ve experienced before Covid-19. In the past, Pentecost has been a joyous time of gathering in the CCC Sanctuary and celebrating together with singing, praying, hearing scripture read, listening to the message preached, and sharing Holy Communion. This year, because of the pandemic, we’ll be together virtually rather than in person. We’ll still have the opportunity to worship in the above-named ways, but I know we’ll miss being physically together as we do.

And so, recognizing that truth, you are invited and encouraged to join the Zoom Fellowship time at noon on Sunday, using the link in this e-newsletter. Joan Chandler will host this Zoom meeting in which everyone will have the chance to share how they’re getting along in our current circumstances. Please know you can call in by phone, even if you don’t have a computer or smart phone. I look forward to seeing each of you there!

New times call for new ways, and so we are challenged, as individuals and as a church, to allow ourselves to be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, trusting God while doing our part.

Come, Holy Spirit, Come!

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
