Scripture is full of stories and thought-provoking words that are as relevant for our lives today as they were for our ancestors!

Dear Congregation,

Bible Study at CCC reconvenes this Monday evening, September 9th from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. I look forward to seeing those of you who’ve come previously and also will be glad if we’re joined by newcomers. The label “Bible Study” may be a little off-putting to those who’ve never attended such a thing. In my mind, a little more inviting title might be a “Faith and Life Discussion”.

Scripture is full of stories and thought-provoking words that are as relevant for our lives today as they were for our ancestors thousands of years ago. People really haven’t changed much over time, but if they are fortunate, they take opportunities offered to learn and grow. God offers those opportunities again and again. In sharing our thoughts on a scripture passage the question is almost always asked, “What does this mean for my life?” It’s always interesting to hear other people’s thoughts on the text and in this way we also learn more about each other. We also learn how God has worked in peoples’ lives.

The scripture passage that is our weekly focus is usually the text that I’ll be preaching on the coming Sunday. People have said they find this helpful and that it deepens their worship experience.

I should also mention that this is a casual time of being together and opening ourselves to God’s word. There is even laughter sometimes!  It has been a gift to me and I hope to others.

Come and see!

In Christ’s love,
