It looks and smells like Christmas is coming now at church!

Dear Congregation,

Advent Greetings to each of you!

We began the season of Advent at CCC with the Hanging of the Greens in worship last Sunday.  We were reminded of the symbolic meaning for Christians of the decorations we use—the Advent wreath, evergreens, bells, mistletoe, crimsons, poinsettias, holly, and the manger. The Sanctuary is looking lovely. Thank you to everyone who helped decorate after worship! Thanks also to Lorrie LeGrand and Jose Otalora for not only donating the fresh Christmas tree but setting it up and putting the lights on! It looks and smells like Christmas is coming now at church!

I do hope you will find time to come to worship during Advent to experience for yourself the beauty of this holy time. This Sunday the second purple candle of PEACE will be lit on the Advent wreath, and we will share together in the Sacrament of Holy Communion. I love the words of the Prayer of Thanksgiving that we pray after we’ve shared the bread and juice. They are:

“Thank you for bread and wine through which we have remembered your life and love and all you taught. May we now be filled with your living word. Build a stable in my body, place a manger in my heart. Fill it with your love, as if it were a newborn child. Amen.”

Advent Blessings.

In Christ’s love.
