I’m writing to urge you to be present in worship this coming Sunday, June 16th at 10 a.m.

Dear Congregation,

I’m writing to urge you to be present in worship this coming Sunday, June 16th at 10 a.m. Our Florida Conference Minister, The Rev. John Vertigan, will be with us in worship and will preach. After worship, he will accompany those of us who are traveling  to Homestead to participate in the Father’s Day March in support of immigrant children detained in the facility there. You’re welcome to join us.

Moderator Lorrie Le Grand has prepared a visual presentation which you will see displayed in Kelsey Hall outlining why members and friends of CCC are joining others to protest the situation at the Homestead child detention facility which is located a mere thirty minutes from our church. There will be a petition available for you to sign if you choose.

A group of those interested in this social justice issue met this week at the church to brainstorm ways we might work to help the children in the Homestead facility. You’ll be hearing more about their plans in the future and are invited to join them. Please let me know if you’re interested.

In this Pentecost season, I see the movement of the Holy Spirit at CCC as we care about and act for children!

In Christ’s Love!
