Celebrating Our Future!!!!

To be blessed with visions is not enough … we must live them!

-High Eagle, 20th century

This week I want to use this space to celebrate several members of our community who have visions they have been following and are truly living into them!  These are some of our young people who are celebrating graduations this month.

Kaelen Krumich, (son of Mark Krumich & Charlene Canali) is graduating from Christopher Columbus High School.  Kaelen was also awarded the Miami Herald Dade County Silver Knight award in the Vocational-Technical category.  This award recognized his work in “turning his dream for a sustainable Miami into a reality.  He is the founder and president of the White Roof Initiative, a nonprofit that organize projects to pain dark roofs white, thus reducing the heat that is released through dark roofs.  Building owners pay half of the project’s estimated cost and the White Roof Initiative covers the rest, including providing volunteers to do the painting.  The group is working with the Omni Community Redevelopment Agency, targeting buildings in the Overtown and Omni area.  Kaelen also co-founded the CCHS Investors Club, which teaches other students the basics of investing and personal finance.  They also host a popular stock game.”  Kaelen is headed to the University of Michigan this fall where he will be one of the select group of 75 students admitted to the Stephen Ross School of Business.

Crysta Diaz (daughter of David & Margie Diaz, granddaughter of Hermes & Margarita Morell) recently graduated from the University of Miami with an MS in Education degree.  She is the new Assistant Director of Admission at Nova Southeastern University in Broward.

Evelyn Godley-Juarez (daughter of Andy & Antonia Godley-Juarez) recently graduated from Temple University Tyler School of Art with a BFA in Metals/Jewelry CAD-CAM with a minor in Art History.  She will remain in Philadelphia to look for a job in the Jewelry industry.

Jonathan McKinney (grandson of Joan Hansen) recently graduated from Miami-Dade College, Wolfson Campus with a BS degree in Computer Technology.  He looking for employment in the field.

All of these young people bring us hope for the future as we see them develop visions for their future; implement their plans to achieve those visions, and then live into the reality of them.  We celebrate their example and join them in celebrating their accomplishments.
