Grace and peace to you!
Dear Congregation,
Grace and peace to you! This Sunday will offer opportunities for worship, community, table fellowship, craft creativity, and participation in social justice prayer and action. In 11 a.m. worship in our beautiful Sanctuary our focus will be on Good Shepherd Sunday with scriptures centering us in Psalm 23 and John 10:1-10. Following worship, our monthly Food & Faith free lunch and program in Kelsey Hall will expand on the Good Shepherd theme. Our new 65” television wall screen will make its debut allowing us visuals and music to enhance our time together.
Afterward, you’re invited to join Bianca and me as we carpool to the 4 p.m. Prayer Vigil across from the cruelly named Alligator Alcatraz Detention Center. There immigrants are being held in deplorable conditions as you might have read in the two recent articles in The Miami Herald. The vigil is always a positive experience as we stand with other like-minded interfaith persons whose message is, “Close It Down!” As we stand in sight of the gate of Allegator Alcatraz, through which immigrants are brought and guards come and go to and from their jobs, we’ll be reminded that Jesus referred to himself as a very different kind of gate, the gate through we pass to abundant life.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Candy
