Grace and Peace to you!

Dear Congregation,

Grace and Peace to you! Bianca and I had a meaningful time representing CCC at Equality Florida’s Pride at the Capitol on Monday and Tuesday in Tallahassee. Thank you for sending us.

We were brought up to date on bills that impact the GLBTQ+ community and had the opportunity to visit with some legislators and share our concerns. We received training on how to tell our stories to connect and make personal how legislation would affect people in real ways. We attended a press conference in which some legislators shared their support and encouragement for the work that Equality Florida is doing. There was good energy in being with others who are working for justice and equality as we were part of the Florida Conference group Support Our Siblings.

Bianca and I were also able to stand with the FlIC (the Florida Immigrant Coalition) in their press conference and to be part of a silent march in the corridors of the House of Representatives and Senate. Each of the approximately 30 participants held a poster with the picture and information of an immigrant who had died in ICE detention centers. It was a very moving experience as we continue to advocate for the rights of immigrants and the closing of Immigrant Detention Centers.

I look forward to being back with you in worship on Sunday and thank Rev. Bob Snyder for leading worship in my absence.

In Christ’s love.

Pastor Candy
