I hope things are well with you and yours!

Dear Congregation,

I hope things are well with you and yours! It was nice to have the buzz of activity here at church last Sunday with the baptism of Nicolas Perez in worship, and his family and their friends in attendance, along with other guests. Then after worship we were busy stuffing student backpacks with school supplies which will be distributed through SOS and En Familia. I can always count on you to warmly welcome visitors and to generously support Outreach efforts!

Tomorrow night is our Prayer Vigil for Detained Immigrants at 6 p.m. in the Garden Chapel, weather permitting. I do hope you’ll be present. As you know, Bianca and I attended an Interfaith Prayer Vigil across from the cruelly named Alligator Alcatraz Detention Center last Sunday. It was a very meaningful time for us as about sixty concerned people, including about fifteen clergy, prayed for those incarcerated there in conditions reported to be inhumane. We will be using some of the same prayers in our vigil.

The community has been invited to the Prayer Vigil and I have heard from at least one rabbi that members of that congregation will attend. It promises to be a holy time.

I look forward to opportunity to be together in prayer as we “knock on Heaven’s door”.

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
