Grace and peace to you!

Dear Congregation,

Grace and peace to you! I know that we members and friends of CCC continue to be very concerned at the plight of immigrants in our country who have been arrested and are being held in detention facilities such as Krome and the one officially named Alligator Alcatraz. As we have seen in news reports, the conditions in which immigrants are being held are deplorable.

I want you to know that Bianca and I have been in communication with other faith groups and non-profits who share our concerns. We have been attending in-person and ZOOM meetings with them that have been very helpful as we share information, ideas, and plans to do what we can to make our voices heard. Because we and our Church Council feel that a response is urgent, a “Prayer Vigil for Detained Immigrants” will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 6 p.m. in our Garden Chapel.

All in our wider community will be invited to attend as we use social media and other resources to get the word out. Please do let others know and, of course, plan to attend.

Sunday’s focus in worship will be on Jesus’ words on prayer and the importance of persistence in prayer as recorded in Luke 11:1-13. I hope you’ll be present as we reflect together on the meaning of his words for such a time as this.

May God Bless You!

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
