Frequently Asked Questions

Coming to a new church is daunting, so we are here to help!

We like to think of our church as the best kept secret in Palmetto Bay since we can offer a truly diverse and caring congregation committed to growing in the Spirit and to service.  Getting connected at Christ Congregational isn’t complicated since we’re a small, intimate but casual and welcoming group to begin with.  We’re ordinary people who feel that church is for everyone and should be relevant. You’ll meet all types of people from all walks of life in a variety of attire—from coats and ties to blue jeans. The grounds at Christ Congregational are also something we’re proud of.  Enjoy the lush surroundings and limestone seating of the Garden Chapel.  Or take a reflective walk in our Labyrinth.  Our open sanctuary also offers great views to the limestone fountain and verdant year-round foliage on the northern side as well as the breathtaking stained glass scenes.

You are welcome to bring your baby with you to worship. The Lullaby Lounge is located in the Kelsey building for your convenience.

When you’re facing a challenge, finding spiritual direction, understanding friends, and practical support can mean the difference between just getting through it and thriving. We can help. We are here to encourage you to find and follow Jesus through the transitions, challenges, and sorrows of life. Pastor Thomas can help address specific life challenges, but we are also in a four-way covenant with Rev. David Lane a Vitas Hospice chaplains. You may also find help through Counseling Ministry of South Florida, an affordable, interfaith counseling center.

We believe the answer lies in adult fellowships through ministries and Bible studies.  You may choose to participate in any of a variety of ministries and committees with an eye for the one(s) that best suit your interests and talents.  Bible study groups are also forming periodically (everyone and anyone is invited) and we discuss a variety of salient and current topics such as myths and coping with death and dying.

Adult fellowship can also flower during CCC Women’s Group meetings. The Women like to meet once a month on Saturdays for a pot-luck lunch and for prayer, meditation, and discussion on a variety of women’s issues. On Sunday mornings you can also enjoy our Adult Discussion where we share a time of learning and conversation from a variety of books. CCC groups are great places to meet with good, like-minded people for fellowship, worship, prayer, encouragement, and support. All fellowships are under the leadership of excellent teachers who offer sound biblical insight. Getting involved in the fellowships is the quickest way to become a part of the family of Christ Congregational Church. (All times are subject to change for our Summer schedule).

Your membership means more than simply signing a piece of paper. Becoming a member of Christ Congregational expresses your commitment to this “spiritual family,” a family that listens, praises God, inspires and serves others. We are committed to connecting with you and desire to help you solidify your faith and find your place at CCC.

The membership classes are informal and open to anyone who is interested and is at least 18 years old. In the Membership Class, we provide a review of CCC’s and the United Church of Christ’s rich and colorful history, an overview of our ministry values and Statement of Faith, and present opportunities for connecting to smaller groups and areas of service. If you’re interested in membership, please contact us at info@christcongregationalucc.org.
