We are Easter people living in a Good Friday!

Dear Congregation,

Grace and peace to you! The expression, “We are Easter people living in a Good Friday world” is a Christian sentiment credited to Barbara Johnson and made popular by St. John Paul II. Those words really resonate with me this year when there is so much suffering, death, and injustice as a result of wars, cruel immigration enforcement methods, and efforts to strip away our civil rights, to name just a few.

As Easter people we are centered in our faith, hope, and joy, and believe that death, in all its forms, does not have the final word. Jesus overcame death! As Easter people we are challenged to live out our faith, sharing our love of God and neighbor with our words and actions.

I do hope you’ll join your faith community at CCC in celebration this Easter Sunday in worship at 11 a.m. We’ll share Holy Communion and rejoice together as the Alleluia is returned to the Sanctuary by Anita Smith, Keeper of the Alleluia.

Alleluia, Christ is risen!

In Christ’s love.

Pastor Candy
