Mid-summer blessings to you!

Dear Congregation,

Mid-summer blessings to you! I want to share with you that I received a phone call from Marlyn Baker this week thanking the church for the financial support that enabled repairs to her orphanage in Haiti. She was absolutely bubbling over with joy that a new corrugated metal roof and rebuilt walls have made it so she and the children don’t have to worry when it storms. She is very grateful for CCC’s help and is praising God for the church’s attention to filling the orphanage’s dire needs. She emphasized that we are in her and the children’s prayers of gratitude. Marlyn also shared that former students who have received vocational training came back to use their acquired skills to help with the work.

This Sunday in worship we’ll focus on five parables of Jesus, two of which focus on how very small things—a mustard seed, and yeast—can have a very big effect beyond themselves. They are examples of what the kingdom of God is like. I see this lived out in what our gift to the orphanage has meant to Marlyn and her children. It has provided a safe place for children to live and receive an education and as a result they are a blessing to their community.

I look forward to seeing you in worship on Sunday and enjoying our potluck barbecue together afterward.

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
