Last Sunday, when the PEACE

Dear Congregation,

I hope all is well with you in this Advent season which seems to be going by so quickly. Last Sunday, when the PEACE candle was lit on our Advent Wreath, long strings of the origami peace doves made by many of you, made their debut. Many thanks go to Baina Pana who skillfully strung them together to hang so beautifully under each candle, and to those of you who persevered in folding doves! Thank you, also, to the Pavon-Factor family who lit the candle!

On this coming Third Sunday of Advent the pink JOY candle will be lit by Lorrie and Isabella LeGrand and Jose Otalora. I’m sure we would agree that we all could use a lot more joy in our lives!

Sunday afternoon some of us will carpool to the weekly Prayer Vigil across from the cruelly-named Alligator Alcatraz Immigrant Detention Center in the Everglades. Pastor, musician and author Brian McClaren will be leading the vigil this week. I have found when attending in the past that there is joy to be found in standing in solidarity with others to petition for the closing of this facility in which so many human rights violations occur. I hope you’ll join us if able.

May you be blessed with Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love in Advent and Always!

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Candy
