I urge you to take advantage of two offerings.
Dear Congregation,
I hope you are doing well in this intense, and for many, anxious time before Tuesday’s Presidential Election!
I urge you to take advantage of two offerings. The first, as you’ll see in today’s e-blast, is “Vote with Love; An Election Day Prayer Vigil” an opportunity to be in prayer with the wider church from 4-6 p.m. on November 5th and to take advantage of the resources provided. You may also submit a prayer that you’ve written to be read in the vigil.
The second offering is CCC’s Post-Election Time of Sharing on ZOOM on Wednesday, November 6th from 7:30p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Meeting ID: 691 735 4836. During our time together you’re invited to share your thoughts and feelings about election results with each other. I will be moderating the conversation.
As the church has been encouraging all who have seen our “Vote with Love” banner out front to do just that, we are reminded of the Great Commandment which is the focus of Sunday’s reflection on Jesus’ words as recorded in Mark 29-31 “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Candidates who are elected, and issues that are passed by voters on Tuesday, 11/5, will have a huge impact in determining how we are able to live out our love of God and neighbor in very real ways. Easy or difficult, living out this love is what we are called as Christ’s disciples to do, and we won’t be doing it alone.
Vote with love!!!
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Candy
