Happy Eastertide!
Dear Congregation,
Happy Eastertide! This is the season of the church year we’re in which began on Easter Sunday and will last until Pentecost on May 24th this year. Easter Sunday’s service was a joyful one with great music as we celebrated Christ’s resurrection. The chorus of the final song that we sang so enthusiastically, “Hope Will Rise Again” by Andra Moran, has stuck in my head all week. That has been a very good thing, for its words are positive and encouraging. They are:
“We are Easter people now; turning power upside down.
In the valley of the shadow, we’re the candle in the window,
Saying Hope will rise again.”
We really belted out “We are Easter people now!” with much enthusiasm and feeling. It was as if we were claiming for ourselves that label and committing anew to being that candle in the window, believing, as people of hope, that Hope will indeed rise again.
I invite you to join me in continuing to both sing and live those words in this Eastertide and beyond!
I look forward to being in worship with you in the Garden Chapel this Second Sunday of Eastertide.
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Candy
