Grace and Peace to you!

Dear Congregation,

Grace and Peace to you! This coming Sunday Bianca and I will be traveling to Tallahassee to represent CCC at Pride at the Capitol sponsored by Equality Florida. We’ll join the Florida Conference’s Support Our Siblings (SOS) group of clergy and lay persons meeting with elected representatives and attending legislative sessions in support of GLBTQ+ rights. Thank you for supporting us in this justice work! Please pray for our safe travel. We’ll be returning Tuesday evening.

Thanks to Rev. Bob Snyder who will lead worship in my absence. We are fortunate to have him and his wife Gwen in our congregation as Snowbirds!

On another note, I want to share with you that I represented the church by participating in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Miami parade as an ally of SEIU 32 BJ Labor Union, which has many Haitian airport baggage handlers as members, to advocate that Temporary Protected Status be extended for Haitian immigrants beyond the February 3, 2025 expiration date. I was privileged to ride on their float and enjoyed sharing their message with the crowd. (Thanks to Philip Cardella for the pictures!)

It feels good to be joining others in justice work as we follow Christ’s example of advocating for those on the margins. We are being church in the world, CCC!

In Christ’s love.

Pastor Candy
