Back to School Barbeque!
Dear Congregation,
I hope you’re planning to be present this Sunday for worship followed by our Back to School Barbeque! Those who attended our previous barbeque had such a good time that it’s back by popular request. We’ll have hot dogs and hamburgers, and if you’d like to share a potluck dish, it would be welcomed. Along with picnic food to enjoy, we’ll also have “getting to know you” questions to encourage table conversation.
I’ll take this opportunity to let you know that while many of us enjoyed Messy Church, evaluating it has led to some changes that I hope will allow even more people from our congregation and community to participate. Messy Church has evolved into Faith and Food-A Community Lunch which will be offered monthly in Kelsey Hall after worship. The first one will be held on September 21st, Peace Sunday. More information will be coming soon, but mark your calendars now and plan to attend.
In these challenging times it’s important to do what we can to strengthen our faith and to find joy in human connection, even as we act to respond to situations that cry out for social justice. Jesus’ disciples were companions for him, as well as students to be taught to carry out his mission in the world. We need each other.
See you Sunday!
In Christ’s love.
Pastor Candy
