71 backpacks filled with the school!

Dear Congregation,

Last week in worship it was a joy to bless the 71 backpacks filled with the school supplies that your donations purchased! Thanks to all who gave so generously, and to Karen Kett, Outreach Chairperson, who coordinated this mission with such passion and commitment! The backpacks have been loaded up and taken to SOS and En Familia where they’ll be distributed to students in need.

Yesterday Miami-Dade Public School District students returned to their classes, along with many private school students. Please join me in praying for them.

Dear God, we pray that this be a wonderful school year for them all, one in which they learn and grow in head knowledge and heart knowledge, as they interact with their peers and teachers. For students and teachers known to our congregation, may they live out their faith in every setting they are in—classes, sports, the lunchroom, music, and extracurricular activities, giving and receiving kindness, and demonstrating love of neighbor. May anxiety be overcome by centering themselves in the assurance of God’s love. May they be safe and enjoy this phase of their lives, making good memories.

In Jesus’ name, we ask, and pray, and trust. Amen.
