DESCRIPTION:Christ Congregational United Church of Christ invites you to a free community screening and lunch for Jesus Was a Migrant\, presented by Tisby Studios. \nThis timely and challenging film invites us to reflect on the lives of asylum seekers\, migrants\, and families who are searching for safety\, dignity\, and hope. In one day\, approximately 270\,000 asylum seekers were shut out. Many of them were Christians. Many of the people celebrating that decision were Christians too. \nAs a church rooted in the way of Jesus\, we believe this is not only a political issue. It is a spiritual one. Scripture repeatedly calls God’s people to welcome the stranger\, protect the vulnerable\, and remember that our faith is shaped by stories of exile\, migration\, refuge\, and liberation. \nJesus himself lived as a child displaced by violence. DESCRIPTION:Christ Congregational United Church of Christ invites you to an interfaith community gathering grounded in prayer\, justice\, and the radical welcome at the heart of the United Church of Christ. Open to all\, this event reflects our shared call to embody God’s expansive love and to bear faithful witness in a world where dignity is too often denied. \nTogether\, we will create space for reflection\, honest conversation\, and communal discernment as we listen for how the Spirit is moving among us. At Christ Congregational UCC\, we believe that taking the risk to be you and living authentically is an act of faith. When we show up fully\, we participate in God’s ongoing work of liberation and healing\, both within ourselves and in the wider community. \nAs part of this witness\, we lift up the ongoing prayer vigils at the Everglades Detention Center\, also known as Alligator Alcatraz\, held every Sunday at 4:00 pm. These vigils stand as a public expression of our commitment to immigrant justice and human rights. We encourage participation when possible\, and for those unable to attend\, an invitation to pause wherever you are at 4:00 pm and join in prayer for freedom\, safety\, and restoration. \nAll are welcome at Christ Congregational United Church of Christ\, exactly as you are.
