Reaching Out in the New Year

Starting in January, Mission Outreach will have 2 new projects working with Camillus House and Veterans.

  1. Clothing collection for the homeless: As you look through your closets for Holiday fare, or trying to make room for new Christmas gifts … think of the Camillus house which needs all types of clothing, outerwear and shoes.  They are asking for adult daily attire, especially men’s smaller sizes, and clothes suitable for people to wear on job interviews.  They do not accept underwear (unless it is new) and do not have a big need for children’s clothes.  They do collaborate with other Dade County agencies to find a desired home for every donation.  Mission Outreach will have a bin in the Kelsey Building for your bagged items and we’ll deliver our collections to Camillus House.  We hope to make this an ongoing activity.
  2. Making an apartment a HOME: Outreach will work with Camillus House to support setting up an apartment for a homeless Veteran who is ready to be in their own housing.  A chart will be posted in the Kelsey Building so people can sign up to bring in specific items that are needed to complete the apartment(s).  We hope to fill one or more by the end of January.  Financial donations will also be accepted.

We are excited as 2018 comes and we continue to help share God’s love through helping our Guardian ad litem families, our Veterans and our community in need.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Your Mission Outreach Committee:
