Dear Congregation,
I really hope you’ll be able to stay after worship this Sunday for the Transition Team’s presentation of the Timeline they’ve created of CCC’s last 60+ years. On the Timeline hung in Kelsey Hall are listed important events in the life of the church as they impacted, and were impacted by, those in the local community, and in the world in the same time period. During a potluck lunch in Kelsey Hall, team members Judy Bowling and Joan Chandler will lead a discussion around what the Timeline has to tell us about the CCC’s past that can inform its future.
You’ll also have the opportunity to add your own significant life events that occurred at church on post-it notes to the Timeline. You might want to post the date you became a member, a child’s baptism, or a wedding. Perhaps you’d like to share a particular activity that was meaningful to you, or the memory of one of the saints of the church who impacted your life.
The Transition Team consisting of John and Judy Bowling, Hermes Morell, Judy Carlson, Joan Campagna, Joan Chandler, Susan Hudson, Peggy Olson, and Bennie Wiley have been working hard on this project, the first of the five tasks of our Interim time together. It has been a joy to work with them!
Remember the children’s song, “I am the church, you are the church, we are the church together…? That’s what we are here at CCC—the church when we’re together. So plan to be present to be a part of this time of stepping back a little and looking at what we can learn from the church’s past that will help us plan for its future.
